I bought this book for my six year old nephew who has been struggling with reading to the point where he s been in tears from embarrassment because he isn t reading on grade level He loves sharks so I thought this would be the perfect fit for him He absolutely loved this book to the point where he called me on FaceTime to read to me of course I cried tears of joy He was able to read the book well on his own and that really helped build his confidence I sent him a few other ocean themed books and [...]

  3. I bought this to read with my 2.5 year old son I don t really understand why this book had such great reviews I have around 20 Step into Reading books of all different kinds and this one is one of the least favorite as a parent It s too simple, with two words on a page with no real story Basic story line Big shark and little shark are hungry but are unable to catch fish for food The little shark then gets a net and catches a bunch of fish My husband and I got to the end of the book and both sort [...]

  4. this is a highly underrated book My daughter has been struggling to read on her own and her teacher suggested finding books that have a maximum of 2 new words per page to give her some confidence while reading This book has that it has some of their word wall words simple words like has, and, i, is, it etc and then some new words like big, little, fish, shark, hungry. Its a great choice for an early reader.

  5. My son loves this book What is even better is there aren t too many words on the pages and the words tend to be repeatative so he recognizes them and will read certain key words with me I started off with big, little, and shark and started adding he was so engaged and excited and kept wanting to read and gets even proud of himself the we read this book and the others we have from this company. Also keep in mind you get from your little love goblins what you put into them What I mean by that is yo [...]

  7. This is a perfect book for toddler who loves sharks and just start to learn English.I really like the cute drawings, its cute story, and my 2 year old son could memorize every wording on each page. The book is small and not heavy, so he always wanted to carry it around wherever we goI would also consider giving this as a present for anyone who has a kid starting to learn English.

  8. Perfect storyline, words, and rhyme for the beginner reader Daughter just finished first semester of kindergarten and was able to read the book aided by picture clues and minimal help from me This was a huge accomplishment for her and encourage her to look for the same words outside this book on other stories.

  9. I hate buying level 1 readers online They are so inconsistent Some are simple short and some are almost impossible for a level 1 reader to get through You really need to be able to flip through the pages and assess its level yourself That tangent aside, this book is on point for a level 1 reader The story is clear, there are minimal words, and the words are repeated for extra practice.
