  1. I ve been sober almost six months Thank god for AA and other such programs.About this book it explains everything First half talks about how AA came to be and last half shares inspirational stories of other addicts and alcoholics who have worked the program and now lead sober lifestyles Very helpful and motivating. For anyone out there struggling with addiction, even if you aren t ready to seek help, read this book You at least will know you aren t alone.

  2. The Kindle version is NOT the Big Book Chapter 5 How It Works is titled The Twelve Steps for some reason and it only goes up to the part where it says being convinced, we were at step 3 Then a new chapter called Step 1 starts bc what they ve done is nestled the 12 12 inside this Big Book version It s so weird The Big Book returns with To Wives and the remaining couple of chapters are there But the stories are weird Home brewmeister Annie the Cop Fighter It s jacked And I m really annoyed

  3. They need to update this old ass book to reflect 2021dresses women as wives and how to stop drinking if your a housewife lold forget about working this program if you re an atheistthe entire book program is centered around praying, God and higher powersey have a section for agnostics that basically says it s okay to not believe in God right now but eventually you ll have to so basically if you don t believe in some kind of God then you re screwed and won t be able to live sober which is absurd I [...]

  4. The Big Book was given to me on September 8, 1986 I was 36, divorced with 2 children, and hopelessly addicted to alcohol I did like so many others before me and leafed through the pages with extreme skepticism Today I am 33 years sober and grateful beyond words For others like me, just read the book, attend a meeting and find a sponsor You have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

  5. I m so grateful for this book My sweet daddy suffered from alcoholism and died unrecovered Growing up in that, I had a lot of resentment and unresolved pain This book showed me that my Dad was sick, and it helped me see that even though I do not drink I was effected by alcoholism Since I do not have this allergy disease, I didn t understand it It makes sense to me now, and it has helped me on my healing journey I cannot recommend this enough I know you get audio chapters on I believe it is the 1 [...]

  6. This says that it s the fourth edition but stories were missing We were trying to find a chapter that is in the hard bound but not on the kindle edition Tried to search for it and it was not able to find No page number, table of content to choose from, and hard to locate anything Was not impressed Will be looking for a better version than this one Wasted my money.

  7. I m reading this in an Overeaters Anonymous Meeting, substituting alcohol for food and it s life changing As an alcoholic has an allergy abnormal reaction to alcohol, the overeater has an allergy to food Neither can consume these things in moderation If you work the steps, you can become recovered.

  8. It has the original 164 pages, but the stories were not the ones I was used to reading, I recognized a couple, but most were new to me Overall interesting, but if someone is looking for the CURRENT Fourth Edition stories or the stories in the THIRD edition this is not it.
