  1. One of the previous reviewers thought it was their fault for not understanding the material Believe me, it was not the case with this book First of all, it was priced way too high for the substance enclosed I purchased this book with the intention of helping me develop my characters It did little in that regard The book was disjointed and the references were of books or plays that I would have little interest in because they lack substance Bridget Jones s Diary, Friends, Game of Thrones, Beauty [...]

  2. Great book I have a B.A in psychology, and use what I learned to flesh out my characters.Love ALL the chapters, especially the one about the Shadow So true that what we most hate about ourselves, we hate in others Being that the Shadow is part of ourselves, it stands to reason that when we write we reveal who we are.Read this book You ll understand your characters better and, as a consequence, you ll hear their real voices on your novel s page as you write.Worth the five stars

  3. I don t think I expected much from this resource, but it delivered The theory was a little wild, but the charts are going to lend some interesting dimension to any character they are applied to What I like about the charts in this book is that there are both character development charts and plot development charts to consider Also, there s at least half a dozen ways you can apply his theories, so you can mix and match them I think if you tried to use them all, it wouldn t work Give this one a sh [...]

  4. This excellent book has taken my writing to a new level I have three dimensional flesh and blood characters now Gone is the vague people that all basically acts the same, with only their names and appearance making it possible to tell them apart. The psychology is explained in a clear fashion that even the layman can understand A set of questions at the end of each chapter guides you in creating your character with the information described in the chapter There is also a very enlightening workshe [...]

  5. This is a very small book , for the price, and shipping charge. Was expecting an info packed, larger book More pages and in depth info There is some good info, and will look into it again, but for the price, was disappointed upon initial inspection. If I had known, before ordering, I would not have ordered, for that price. The cover is great The arrangement is good.

  6. The book was helpful I made me understand a ton of things I ve seen in life, tv shows, and movies that I didn t know could affect real life outcomes and literary conflicts It s not a self help book but it did change my perception of how I should start seeing the world and it also will continue to guide me through my book writing This book has about ten to fifteen pages of worksheets that will help with character development and creating conflicts to make for a interesting story.

  7. Not only is this book interesting it is also very helpful it shows you a whole new layer to add to Your characters that give them depthAnd realism.

  8. Several reviewers lowered their review because this book is small It is small It s super short with questions at the end of each such and an inch or so of writing space But do you want pages filled with fluff or do you appreciate it when the author gets to the heart of things This is a fast and easy read, but it s packed with profound thinking for writers I ve been highlighting, annotating, and marking pages with sticky tabs This little book is packed with news ways to think about and develop th [...]

  9. This was a short quick read that gave interesting insight on the psychology of people which writer s could transfer to their characters I liked the easy explanations and examples used as well as the additional worksheets which helped me work through backstory and character development in my own series I would have actually liked , if I m honest at only 80 pages, although I thought the content was informative and useful I did expect.Recommended for writer s of any genre It certainly will be used [...]
