  1. Why twelve you ask I have read this book a minimum of 12 times now I will read it again These books are my all time favorites and I pull them out again at the very most every other year They never grow old and the pages can never be turned fast enough even though I know what happens next The adventure is as good now better mayhap then it was the first time Ka

  2. After reading this book I really am left wondering why so many people love the Dark Tower series I ve read a lot of Stephen King and the thing he generally does well, even in a mediocre book, is to have engaging characters and well defined stakes that draw you into the plot Both elements were missing in this one.OK, I ll admit that I read the Gunslinger probably over 30 years ago and did not like it and so I waited this long to give book 2 a chance Maybe if I d re read book 1 I d have a stronger [...]

  3. A great book full of unique content, this is no cookie cutter novel I highly recommend this work, Stephen King is to be allowed his peculiarities, they are not his greatest caviar It is his originality which sets him apart The feeling he conveys in the forward of discovery while writing causes excitement in our own spellbound readings King is not gifted, he is the gift.

  4. The Dark Tower novels are quite different, and so is the story they tell Its an odd setting because of the dual world view but it Could explain a lot of things that happen in our world The story is told in a number of volumes and should be read from number one on Starting in the middle will be confusing The settings jump around a bit between New York and the other world locations, but that isn t difficult to understand, if you accept the premise of the dual worlds and that there are paths doors [...]

  5. The Drawing of the Three really picks up the pace after the Gunslinger While the book starts within a few hours of the end of the previous book, you can tell in just the first few pages that this one is going to be different The tone is much less surreal and disorienting than The Gunslinger, it s much easier to grasp what s going on and feel involved with the story There s a significant course correction right away and then the book gets into the interconnectedness of worlds that is probably my [...]

  6. The Dark Tower series is very well written, Stephen King, after all, but I pushed through the first book and just couldn t make it through this one It s simply dark I don t mind creepy, gorey, scarey, psycho or completely out there But dark just doesn t do it for me I admire Roland for all the hardships he suffers and keeps on going, but I just can t stay there with him It s too exhausting for me.

  7. Continues the adventures of Roland the Gunslinger. You must read in series order.A longer book that the first one, set in our time, featuring three linked characters.Excellent writing, especially the Eddie character as he first encounters Roland.A very different novel is some respects Roland is no longer a lone wolf and the novel is much better for this expansion in characters.

  8. Don t buy if you want the advertised collectable covers that spell out Dark Tower The spine of this book and also book 3 are yellow.
