  1. Will Scarlett, outlaw, wolf s head, violently tempered right hand man to Robin Hood, has been pardoned for his many sins and crimes but cannot find peace within Donning the robes and tonsured hairstyle, he becomes a monk In a wonderful bit of story telling, the author has taken an account of a troublesome group of monks who basically disregarded their vows and ran wild, causing strained relations between the townsfolk and the local abbey Brother Scaflock Scarlett finds that old habits die hard e [...]

  2. 1328 in Selby Abbey and Will Scaflock, the former outlaw known as Will Scarlett is adjusting to monastical life while dealing with crooked monks, outlaws, thieves and murderers As evil descends upon the abbey and a friend is captured, Will must decide if living in peace and quiet under the Benedictine rule will outweigh his need to pick up the sword.Steven A McKay has deftly revisited one of Robin Hood s formidable lieutenant s in The Abbey of Death The novella is a thrilling stand alone tale, o [...]

  3. In my opinion, McKay out did himself with this book Theoretically, it s the last in a series, but this novel works well as a stand alone. The research is impeccable with a realistic dialogue and a plot that flows I found no dead places the story moved along at a good pace All of the characters are believable in this historically accurate fiction The book felt like wearing my tattered and worn jeans comfortable and cozy. The book held my interest cover to cover as Will Scaflock is placed back into [...]

  4. This short mystery takes place in an abbey where Robin Hood s compatriot, Will Scarlet, has chosen to spend his later years Unfortunately, trouble seems to follow him.Great if you re looking for something relatively short, entertaining, and fun.

  5. I was totally intrigued with another story about Will Scarlet The Forest Lord series helped to acquaint myself with Will Scarlet so thank you Steven McKay for the continued dedication to these wonderful characters It just ended too soon as I was enjoying every page, superbly written, looking forward to any other characters reappearing Keep those books coming, thank you

  6. I love the Brother Cadfael books but The Abbey of Death gives one a different probably a realistic view of what life was life in an abbey in the 13th century I am a big fan of the Forest Lord series and am not disappointed by final chapter The characters are well developed and the story is never boring I will miss the Forest Lord but am looking forward to the release of the Druid series from the author.

  7. Steven McKay tells a great story and I believe the best description of what it was really like for Robin hood and his merry men This is the last in this series, you should read them all I look forward to his next book which comes out this year.

  8. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella Engaging and well written with charismatic and interesting characters I actually read through the entire story in one sitting as I felt like it was an unfolding adventure Highly entertaining read, I definitely recommend it to lovers of historical fiction action stories.

  9. I m a big fan of Mckay and as much as I knew the end was neigh for the Forrest Lord series featuring Robin Hood I couldn t help but feel a little down I loved the every bit of the series and it was just a shame It had come to an end.Luckily for me the author knows what his readers want and gives them another short that sits alongside the series. This short is set years after the events of the main Forrest Lord series, Will Scarlet has moved on he s older now and as the world moves on around him h [...]

  10. This book is truly addictive, once you pick it up you won t be able to put it down. The character of Will Scarlet Scaflock is a likeable fellow, he is a man trying his best to be as good a man as he can be He has a good understanding of what is right and wrong, having lived as a Wolf s Head, and now as a monk As the story unfolds, Will is forced to confront his past and choose which path he wants to follow. The other characters are really well rounded, a few to really like and a good few that make [...]
